Some useful tips for the ultimate Car Clean!
When it comes doing that much-delayed car clean, it may seem like a lot of time and effort, but it doesn’t have to be. With the correct cleaning products and a bit of elbow grease, you can have an interior to be proud of once more.
The first natural step to take is to get into every nook and cranny, and throw out any rubbish you may have lying around – old bottles, takeaway packaging, and anything else causing a clutter. Get those dirty floor mats out of there, spray them with stain remover and load them into your washing machine – or use upholstery cleaner for a more DIY approach.
Now is your chance to vacuum. When doing the quick once-over in the car clean, use a fine-bristled brush to remove crumbs out of the seat cushions, and dust your air-conditioning vents. If you vacuum as you go, this will save time and extra unwanted mess! Make sure to check if the cabin filter needs switching, as dust can accumulate and leave a musty smell behind. If you’re a pet owner, a spray-bottle filled with water and a squeegee is a perfect combination for those stubborn hairs clinging onto your upholstery.
Next is to get those seats looking as new. Shampoo them with a diluted cleaner, using a sponge and some washcloths. Make sure you use white or undyed cloths though, so that the dyes don’t rub off onto your car’s fabric.
The final steps are to focus on the dashboard and windows. With the dashboard, a barely damp (but clean!) cloth is perfect – you can use a tiny amount of laundry detergent to remove any stains – then dry with a soft cloth.
For the windows, a window cleaning spray and cloth will do just the job. A word of caution on cleaning the back window though – the heating lines of the defogger grid can be damaged easily, so don’t be too rough.
With these simple steps, you can go from having the cluttered car of your nightmares, to a beautiful, as new alternative!
